The Department of Recreation and Park Administration and Student Affairs’ Thursday Alternative Getaway will host "Haunting of the Stadium" at Roy Kidd Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 30 and Friday, Oct. 31 from 7-11 p.m. Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children under 10. Michael R. Nichols has recently joined the Counseling Center staff as staff psychologist. Dr. Nichols was formerly staff psychologist at Eastern State Hospital, director of the UK Counseling and Testing Center, president of the Kentucky Psychological Association, and examiner with the Kentucky State Board of Psychology. He is currently serving as the editor/historian of National Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and as trustee of the Woodford County Library. Dr. Nichols received his bachelor's degree from Transylvania University and M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky. From Transylvania University, Dr. Nichols received the Distinguished Service Award as well as the Lunger Medallion and from the UK College of Medicine the Community Based Preceptor Award for Outstanding and Appreciated Dedication to Teaching. The deadline is Oct. 15 for students to provide original poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, drama, visual art/photography, music and foreign language submissions accompanied by English translation. The University Research Committee has funds available to support modest research projects through internal grants. Applications for the grants, open to all faculty, are limited to a $5,000 maximum and must be submitted by Oct. 24 for the fall term. Spring applications must be submitted by Feb. 2.
