Quilt Trail Topic of Friends of EKU Libraries Annual Dinner |
The Friends of EKU Libraries will hold its third annual dinner Friday, Nov. 6, featuring presentations by leaders from local county quilt trail projects. |
“An Evening on the Quilt Trail with Friends” will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m. in the Stratton (Building) Café and be followed by dinner at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $28; reservations can be made until Tuesday, Nov. 3, by calling the EKU Library Advancement Office at 622-1072.
Following the dinner, Gina Noe, Madison County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences, and Don Hart, project leader for the Madison County Quilt Trail, will speak about the history of the Quilt Trail in the United States, the origination of the Quilt Trail in Madison County and how the Trail has evolved over the years. They will also share stories of the impact the painting and hanging of quilt squares has had on the local community.
Dr. Shirley Long, a retired faculty member from the College of Education and a Kentucky Quilt Trail member, will talk about her personal experience as a barn quilt owner.
Barn quilt squares will be on display at the event along with an array of sewn quilts.
The dinner is open to those who want to learn more about the Friends of EKU Libraries, an organization that helps provide students with the best of library resources and services through its generous support of EKU Libraries. In addition to the annual dinner in the fall, the group enjoys special events throughout the year, such as author presentations and book signings and other exclusive opportunities. They also enjoy borrowing privileges and a subscription to the Libraries’ newsletter, “Between the Columns.” Anyone interested in becoming a Friend of EKU Libraries may contact the Library Advancement Office at 622-1072.
