"Ching Swee" is pretty close.

I have a B.S. and M.S. in Marine Geology from Ocean University of Qingdao, China (OUQD)and an M.S. in Computer Science from EKU.

How long have you been in this position?
I have been working in EKU Web Services for two years.

If you weren't doing this job, what would you like to be doing?
I think I would still be programming because I love it and I have so much passion for software development.

What did you do before coming to EKU?
After I got my M.S. from OUQD I started to do some network programming as a software engineer in China. It was then that I realized how much I enjoyed programming.

Where were you born?
I was born in TsingTao, P.R.China. It is one of the most beautiful cities in China. It is on the east coast and has gorgeous view of the sea.

Five years.

The sea, the mountains, the affections of the people and the food in my home city.

I went to Washington with my parents, my wife and my 5-month-old son in September 2002. It was a wonderful experience to travel with my family.

Other than computers, what are your hobbies and interests?
I like to play soccer, ping pong and tennis. I also play the harmonica very well. I like to travel with my family and friends.

Tell me about your family.
My wife also graduated from EKU at the same time I did. Her name is Jing Song. We have a son, Ethan Cui. He will be 2 years old next month. We are expecting to have another member in our family this coming September.

If you could travel back in time to any place or occasion, what would it be?
I really miss the time when my wife and I were studying together at the Ocean University of Qingdao. This was one of the most precious periods in my life. We were young and we had the energy to do many interesting things.

What is your favorite food?
Chinese dumplings.

What is in your CD player at home right now?
Some Chinese kid's music for my son.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I have two master's degrees and am working on a Ph.D. in computer science at the University of Kentucky.

How has your department moved the University forward in the last year?
After I started working in EKU Web Services, Ron Yoder and I have worked very well together as a team. We have created quite a few web applications for various University areas. We successfully developed the Online Employment System for both faculty/staff (http://www.hr.eku.edu/employment/) and students (http://www.finaid.eku.edu/employment/), the online voting system for EKU student government elections, homecoming elections, and the recent staff council election. We developed the Online Publishing System for EKUpdate (http://www.pr.eku.edu/Update/) and EKUNews (http://www.prm.eku.edu/ekunews/). We are excited about the web content management system that we are developing for other departments.

The Internet is becoming one of the most important tools in the academic world. We have provided a number of workshops and tutorials for faculty and staff to help them use the EKU web space more efficiently. We are planning to offer more learning opportunities for employees and students this coming summer and fall.
