The South Atlantic Association of Departments of English has selected Hal Blythe, professor of English, as a recipient of its Outstanding Teacher Awards for 2004. As a Distinguished Teacher, Blythe will speak on creative teaching at the SAMLA convention in Roanoke, Va., next November.
The College of Health Sciences will host its Spring 2004 Career Day on Friday, April 2. The event, open to EKU students and alumni, will be held from 9 a.m. until noon in Alumni Coliseum. Dozens of employers are coming from Kentucky and several other states. Also, representatives from EKU’s Division of Career Services will be present to provide additional information.

The College of Justice & Safety will begin its annual career day activities at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 1, in the Robert Clark Stone Fitness Center of the Stratton Building.
Representatives from agencies in the fields of justice and safety will be on hand to discuss career opportunities until 1:45 p.m. Activities will continue with a career day panel discussion from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. in the Stratton Mezzanine. Professionals from the fields of justice and safety and a representative from EKU’s Career Service Center will discuss hiring trends and give advice about interviewing skills and resume preparation.
The day also will include a demonstration by the Fire and Safety Engineering Technology program involving a live burn and an explosion investigation scene at 11 a.m. at the Ashland Building.
