Spring Lecture Series Focuses on Citizen Activism in Appalachia
EKU’s Center for Appalachian Studies is sponsoring a series of lectures this spring on “Citizen Activism in Appalachia.”

The events, each on Wednesday, are free and open to the public. All events are in Crabbe Library 128, unless otherwise noted.

The schedule:

  • “The Mountain Top Removal Road Show,” Dave Cooper and Teri Blanton, Feb. 21, 3:15-4:45 p.m., Crabbe Library 108. Co-sponsored by Model Laboratory High School’s Community Problem Solving Team.
  • “Appalachia as an Artist Colony,” Appalshop filmmaker Herb E. Smith, March 21, 3:30- 4:45 p.m. Co-sponsored by EKU’s Center for Kentucky History and Politics.
  • “From Local Concerns to Legislative Action: Turning Grassroots Activism into National Policy,” Director of Chemical Weapons Working Group Craig Williams, March 28, 3:30-4:45 p.m. Co-sponsored by EKU’s Center for Kentucky History and Politics.
