Eastern Kentucky University’s Bachelor of Social Work program has been reaccredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
The program received official notification from CSWE that an award of continuing accreditation was given through 2016, following a comprehensive evaluation and on-site visits last fall.
EKU’s Social Work program has been continuously accredited by the CSWE since 1977.
In addition to the BSW degree, a minor in social welfare also is available at EKU. Students who complete the BSW with a high enough GPA are eligible for advanced standing in Master of Social Work programs offered at other universities.
“The faculty of the Social Work Program worked long and hard to garner this impressive result,” said Dr. Elizabeth A. Throop (MSW), chair of Eastern’s Department of Anthropology, Sociology, and Social Work. “The entire EKU community should be proud to be associated with such a talented group of people. In particular, Dr. Pat Litzelfelner, director of the BSW Program, was a tireless and enthusiastic organizer of the entire effort, and she deserves special recognition. EKU’s BSW program is an outstanding one, with students, staff, and faculty committed to regional stewardship and the empowerment of social work clients.”
