Peter Cizdziel brings a long history of successfully
managing private golf and dining clubs to his new role as general manager of Arlington, Eastern Kentucky University’s private club that has served the community for more than 40 years.
Cizdziel has been the general manager at Fort Belvoir (Va.) Golf Club for the past 14 years and also spent two years as general manager of the Fort Belvoir Officers’ Club. Prior to joining the Fort Belvoir club, he managed the Mark Twain Golf Club in Elmira, N.Y.
“Peter was an excellent choice for Arlington’s new general manager,” said EKU Dean of Justice & Safety Allen Ault, who headed the selection committee. “He has great people skills and the members have already commented on how well he communicates with each member he meets. He also possesses the leadership and management skills that will quickly propel Arlington to its full potential.”
Cizdziel holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing-professional golf management from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich., and is a graduate of the Disney Institute of World Class Service.
Arlington is in the final stages of a new membership incentive – EKU faculty, staff and alumni and members of the general public who join before Sept. 30, 2009, will not be charged an initiation fee (at least $1,000 in savings). The monthly charge for a resident of Madison or any adjacent county is $120, with a $25 monthly food and beverage minimum. The monthly charge for a non-resident is $80, also with a $25 monthly food and beverage minimum. (Food and beverage minimums are billed three times a year.)
Arlington members have complete access to dining facilities, a premier 18-hole golf course (cart fees not included in monthly charge), a full-service golf pro shop, an Olympic-size swimming pool, tennis courts, grille house and a soon-to-open fitness center.
The Arlington Association was incorporated in May of 1969 as a non-profit corporation to promote close relationships among faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of EKU through the operation of a club providing programs of social and recreational activities and to create a better understanding of the educational activities and opportunities at Eastern. The site of Arlington was contributed by W.A. Hanger through a bequest to EKU and the EKU Foundation.
In 2008, the Arlington Association Golf Course was certified as an “Audubon Certified Sanctuary” through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, an Audubon International program. Arlington was only the fourth course in Kentucky and 679th worldwide to receive the honor.
