The work of 35 Eastern Kentucky University graphic design students and eight alumni will be on display at EKU’s Giles Gallery Nov. 4-23.
The opening reception for “Design of the Times ’09” is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. All Giles Gallery events are free and open to the public, and group tours are welcome. For Gallery hours, call 859-622-8135. The Gallery is located in the Campbell Building on Crabbe Street.
The exhibit will feature typographic posters, social activist posters, political and theatre posters, book jackets, magazine spreads, illustrations, flash animations, packaging design, brand identity design, catalog design, logo designs and exhibition posters, according to Ida Kumoji, assistant professor of graphic design.
EKU’s graphic arts program has grown to become the “largest and best” in Kentucky, said Herb Goodman, chair of EKU’s Department of Art and Design.
“Five years ago we produced four BFA diplomas in graphic design. This year we will have 20,” Goodman noted.
