Mahler's "Farewell": An Examination of Mahler's Use of Musical Gestures in His Ninth Symphony
Thomas Couvillon, assistant professor of Music at EKU, will present a public lecture this Friday on Mahler's Ninth Symphony. This lecture will focus on how a number of simple compositional techniques are combined to create unity and convey meaning in this landmark work. While some knowledge of music would be helpful, the lecture is designed to appeal to a general audience.
