Sustainable Corner: Recycling Printer Cartridges
Printer cartridges are a valuable resource if recycled and can harm the environment if they are not, so before tossing that empty cartridge in the trash, consider the options.
Many office supply stores give discounts on store merchandise in exchange for a cartridge. Many non-profit organizations collect and sell cartridges to recyclers and will be very grateful for a donation.
At EKU, labs offices that participate in the contract with Electronic Business Machines (www.ebmky.com) can return their empties by shipping them back to EMB or have their empties picked up at the time of delivery.
Others can drop off their cartridges at the Computer Store. Ink jet cartridges from the copy machines are picked up by Central Stores during their delivery of ink jet cartridges to the office.
Students who live on campus can drop off their cartridges at the ResNet office in Combs 230.
