Thank you for supporting the request of Governor Ernie Fletcher and Secretary of Commerce Jim Host regarding the use of the “Kentucky – Unbridled Spirit” state brand on advertisements, brochures, flyers, newsletters, recruitment publications, signage, websites, and other opportunities where it is appropriate.

The “Kentucky – Unbridled Spirit” logo replaces the previous “Education Pays” logo which should no longer be used. Please use “Kentucky – Unbridled Spirit” alone and not in conjunction with “Education Pays.”

To protect the integrity of the official state brand for Kentucky, the following guidelines must be followed exactly. No alterations of any kind may be made to the state brand. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Eastern Kentucky University must use the state brand in the following ways:

1. The brand must be presented on a solid background only. Avoid using on medium-toned, photographic, or textured backgrounds that do not allow for proper contrast between the logo and the background color.
2. Allow for adequate white space to surround the logo – do not crowd the logo with other logos of any type, text of any kind, photos or other graphic design elements.
3. When preparing a four-color publication, use the four-color brand logo.
4. When preparing a black and white, one-color, or two-color publication, the logo may be used in solid black, solid white, solid maroon (PMS 209), or the same color you’ve selected for the one-color publication (i.e., solid green, solid blue, solid brown, solid purple, solid red, etc). No other variations may be made.
5. Do not add anything to the logo, and do not subtract anything from the logo, including the Unbridled Spirit text; it MUST be used in its entirety.
